On page 38, the mayor of Warsaw is described, "He was disheveled and unshaven, and his face wore an expression of deathly weariness. He hadn't slept for days. He was the heart and soul of the defense, the real hero o the city." Put yourself in his situation, would you be as helpful as him, or run away to defend your yourself? How would you react; the same? Differently?
If i were the "mayor" I would believe that it is my duty to stay and protect the people of the town. Even though i may think that staying might not be the smartest thing, i believe that it is the right thing. You cant have a leader run away from all their people, it would be chaos. Just like on the titanic, the captain went down with his ship, he didn't hurry off in a lifeboat to save himself.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the mayor I would stay to protect the town. Being a mayor means that you not only keep the town running smoothly but also that you have to take care of the people in your town no matter what the situation is. I would think that it is my responsibility to stay behind and help protect the town and everyone living in it, not just run to save myself and leave everyone behind. Also, if someone was trying to take over my town and country, I would not just let them do it easily. I would want to fight back.
